Small Veges. Big Impact.

Microgreens are nutritional powerhouses, harvested around 7 days after planting. Research shows these young vegetables contain significantly higher concentrations of certain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and beneficial bioactive compounds than their mature counterparts, offering exciting potential for nutrition, health and wellbeing innovation.

Indoor vertical growing offers the potential to produce fresh food year-round, using less land and less water than conventional farming. However, traditional vertical farms can require significant capital investment and energy to operate, limiting their accessibility and commercial viability.

Building on six years of certified-organic commercial growing experience in New Zealand, Brown Acres Australia is exploring a different approach. We're combining nutritional science, sustainable growing technology and practical innovation to overcome these challenges.

Our vision is to make better nutrition and fresh food production more accessible, affordable and resilient, creating lasting benefits for communities and future generations.

Functional Nutrition

Our research explores the nutritional and bioactive properties of microgreens, including their naturally occurring phytonutrients and potential health benefits.

We're investigating innovative ways to harness these properties in convenient, nutrient-dense nutrition solutions that support everyday wellbeing, healthy ageing and different nutritional needs.

Modular Growing Systems

We're exploring a different approach to vertical farming, developing affordable, energy-efficient and adaptable modular growing systems that overcome traditional barriers to cost and accessibility.

Our vision is to create scalable solutions specifically designed from urban rooftops and schools to Indigenous and Pacific Island communities, and remote or regional locations where access to fresh food is limited by isolation, extreme weather or natural disasters.

Through research, engineering and collaboration, we aim to strengthen local food security, support community resilience and make sustainable food production viable in challenging environments.

Skincare & Wellness

Exploring the cosmetic applications of microgreen-derived bioactive compounds, with a particular interest in their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential for skin health.

Our vision is to develop innovative skincare solutions that harness these properties to support skin wellbeing and resilience, with particular interest in active lifestyles, athletes and exposure to sun and environmental stress.
